Overview of the Advanced Speed Skate Program

The Advanced Speed Skate Program is designed for dedicated athletes aiming for peak performance in speed skating. This program emphasizes:

  • Advanced Technical Skills: Focusing on refining skating techniques.

  • Specialized Training: Tailored workouts to enhance strength, endurance, and agility.

  • Tactical Preparation: Strategies for competition to improve race outcomes.


Competition Participation

Skaters in this program regularly compete in:

  • Regional competitions

  • Provincial championships

  • National events

The primary goal for participants is to achieve personal bests and excel at higher levels of competition.

Schedule

Dates and times may be subject to change. Please note that this schedule is tentative and subject to confirmation from the City of Fredericton as they finalize ice time allocations for all user groups.


Mondays, 6:45 to 8:00 p.m. (arrive at 6:30 to put up board pads)

Wednesdays, 7:15 to 8:30 p.m. (arrive at 7:00 to put up board pads)

Thursdays, 5:00 to 6:00 p.m. (arrive at 4:45 to put up board pads)

Sundays, 9:30 to 10:45 a.m. (arrive at 9:15 to put up board pads).


Sunday practices are not held every week. Instead, there are approximately 8-9 Sunday practices scheduled throughout the season, as outlined in the club’s practice calendar. These practices are subject to change due to other events, such as hockey tournaments, which take place on the Grant-Harvey Olympic Ice surface. Additionally, Sunday practices will not occur during speed skating competitions held in New Brunswick or Atlantic Canada. They will only proceed if the majority of skaters in the A and B Groups confirm their attendance.
