First Strides - Learn to Skate

Program Overview

Now in its 4th decade, this program remains highly popular and widely regarded as an excellent introduction to skating. Whether you're interested in hockey, ringette, speed skating, or simply recreational skating, this program caters to all skating goals. Designed for use with hockey-style skates, it is ideal for youth looking to learn to skate or develop fundamental skating skills.

Dates

Number of sessions: 9 sessions offered weekly


Program Dates:

Block 1: October 8, 2025 to December 3, 2025

Block 2: January 7, 2026 to March 11, 2026 (no session March 4, during March break)


Program Fees: $170 for each block of 9 sessions plus $20 for Speed Skate Canada (SSC) and Speed Skate New Brunswick (SSNB) fees. Note that all participants must pay SSC and SSNB fees. Please note that each block of sessions requires a separate registration, and fees apply per block (SSC and SSNB fees are only paid once per season). Further information on fees can be found here.
